Firms like these are read by a procurement officer or an engineer qualifying a supplier, not by a shopper. That site needs capability statements, materials and tolerances, accreditations with their scope, capacity, lead times and specifications someone can download and forward. Structure beats animation every time. It is also why Ilkeston and Long Eaton, selling into Derby and Nottingham, and Dronfield, trading between Chesterfield and Sheffield, lose half their reachable search when a homepage names one city and ignores the other. The answer is not a thin page per town.
Heritage Is Only An Asset If The Page Still Loads
Belper is the only market town at the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, inscribed in 2001 as the birthplace of the modern factory system; Belper North Mill, rebuilt in 1804, is among the oldest surviving iron-framed buildings in the world. Ripley grew around the Butterley ironworks, founded nearby in 1790, which supplied and erected the ironwork for the arched train-shed roof at St Pancras in 1868. Swadlincote grew where coal and clay met in the same ground, worked by scores of potteries, and now sits in the National Forest with a visitor economy alongside its manufacturing base.
A story that good tempts a business into a full-screen hero video and an image-heavy homepage. Given the connectivity above, that is the worst trade available in this county. The craft is to carry the story in typography, hierarchy and a few well-compressed photographs, so the page still arrives quickly on a rural connection.
